I dont understand what you mean, I tested the quest and then I kill the golen I can mine it withouth trouble.
When I killed it three times and the core, the part you mine didn't spawn. Same thing with the brimstone destroyer in South West Aszuna, I thought maybe it was because someone else had mined it just before I did but not sure.
